Javan Hunt on Future Ecologies Podcast

Future Ecologies is a podcast exploring our eco-social relationships through stories, science, music, and soundscapes. In this episode, Javan shares three of his environmental anthems and reflects on his journey into conservation—which he describes as a “happy accident.”

As Mangrove Nursery Coordinator with Waterkeepers Bahamas, public educator, and musician, Javan has introduced people of all ages to the joy of taking an active role in ecological flourishing. His dedication to environmental stewardship is deeply rooted in his love for The Bahamas; a place of stunning natural beauty where ecosystems like mangroves are the lifeblood of coastal resilience.

After Hurricane Dorian destroyed vast stretches of these habitats, the loss was more than ecological—it was cultural and spiritual, shaking the community’s sense of identity tied to land and sea. Through both artistry and environmental action, Javan is helping restore not just mangroves, but also connection, culture, and a sense of home.
