Teen Leadership Workshop: Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders in The Bahamas
The Teen Leadership Workshop, hosted by Dr. T’Noya Thompson and Javan Hunt, brings together young people for an inspiring, hands-on experience designed to build confidence, self-awareness, and community. The workshop blends leadership science with creativity, teamwork, and personal development, giving teens the tools to grow into the leaders and followers the world needs.
What the Workshop Covers
⭐ Mastering the Art & Science of Leadership
Led by Dr. T’Noya Thompson, participants explore what leadership really means—beyond titles and stereotypes. Teens learn:
- Leadership theories
- The idea that leadership is a learned skill, not just an innate trait
- How leadership and followership work together
- The different followership styles
- The importance of being a courageous follower in today’s world
Through interactive activities (like the popular Cup Challenge!) teens put these concepts into action, practicing teamwork, decision-making, and communication.
Followership: Redefining a Misunderstood Role
A core theme of the workshop is breaking the stigma around followership.
Teens discover that:
- Followership isn’t passive—it’s powerful.
- Great leaders are often great followers first.
- Healthy leadership requires healthy followership.
- Social media culture complicates followership—and teens learn how to navigate it thoughtfully.
Dr. T’Noya also highlights a key message: leadership isn’t measured by scale, but by the difference you make in even one person’s life.
Values, Vision & Motivation
During his portion of the workshop, Javan Hunt leads teens through:

Teens identify their core values and learn how these guide decisions, relationships, and long-term goals.
